What Is Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) Lining?

CIPP lining is a trenchless pipe repair method that rebuilds a damaged pipe from the inside, without replacing it. A resin-saturated liner is pulled into the host pipe and cured in place, forming a new, jointless pipe wall against the old one. It works when the existing pipe still holds a circular shape but has cracks, separations, root intrusion, pinholes, or rough, deteriorated spots. Skilled cipp lining contractors fit the liner to your pipe diameters and restore flow capacity, often with no digging at all.

This matters most in older Utah homes. If your home was built before the mid-1970s, the original sanitary lines have had decades to corrode and crack. Lining works on cast iron, clay, Orangeburg, and PVC pipes, across sewer laterals, mains, and vertical stacks. The good news: crews rarely need to dig trenches to fix buried sewer pipes anymore. Lining rehabilitates the pipe you already have.

How It Works

How CIPP Repair Works in Utah

A clean, proven four-step process that rebuilds your pipe from the inside, start to finish, usually in a single day.

01

Analyze

We inspect the host pipe with a CCTV camera to find the problem and confirm whether cured-in-place pipe lining is the right repair.

02

Prepare

We clean the pipe free of debris, often with hydro jetting, then measure the run and saturate a fiberglass or felt liner with resin.

03

Install

The resin-impregnated liner slides into the existing pipe. A bladder inflates, and the epoxy cures; newer tech cures it with ultraviolet light.

04

Finish

We remove the bladder, leaving a new, circular, non-corrosive pipe that resists root intrusion and restores flow capacity. A final CCTV inspection confirms you are back in service.

Trenchless vs. Traditional

Why Utah Property Owners Choose Minimal Dig

The same repair, two very different experiences. Here is how CIPP lining compares to excavation, the dig-and-replace method that tears out your line and rebuilds it from scratch. Lining rehabilitates the pipe in place, so most of the cost and mess never happens.

Signs Your Pipe Needs Repair, Not Replacement

Most sewer problems give you weeks of warning before they fail. If your pipe is still sound but cracked, corroded, or root-intruded, CIPP lining can often rebuild it from the inside with minimal to no digging. Watch for these early signs:

A quick CCTV camera inspection confirms the cause in minutes and tells us whether your pipe qualifies for a no-dig repair or needs another fix. Either way, you get a free second opinion before you commit to anything.

Our Services

What We Fix, and How

CIPP lining works across very different buildings, from a single home to a hospital that cannot close. Here is how each one is handled.

Single Family Homes

A leaking sewer line from root intrusion often sends a homeowner straight to a plumber for a full dig-out. There are less destructive alternatives to replacing pipes: pipe bursting and cured-in-place pipe repair both rehabilitate the line with far less damage to your property.

Multi-Tenant / Family Buildings

If you own or manage a multifamily building, you have to weigh cost against the disruption to your tenants. The technology renews both pressurized and non-pressurized piping systems through existing access points, so the pipeline gets fixed without emptying the building.

Hospitals

Hospital care never stops, so repiping can mean huge expense and downtime in areas that cannot go offline. Restore Pipe Systems uses Nu Flow solutions to renew pipe systems without disrupting critical daily functions.

Schools & Universities

The technology rehabilitates school and university buildings. That includes lining for non-potable water, drain, and mechanical pipes, plus full interior work for offices, restaurants, and museums.

Retirement & Nursing Facilities

Nursing and retirement facilities often run more like hospitals than housing, because of the health needs of the people who live there. Working without disruption is critical to their daily care.

Hotels, Resorts, & Casinos

For hotels, resorts, and casinos, a pipe renewal project can mean lost revenue, which tempts managers toward quick fixes. A short-term patch is not the answer. A long-term, cost-effective repair keeps disruption to business low.

Common Questions

What Homeowners Ask Before Calling

What are the signs that I might have a cracked or broken sewer line?

Watch for several drains running slow at once, gurgling toilets, or sewage odors indoors. You may also see water backing up in tubs or sinks, a patch of bright green grass over the line, or clogs that keep coming back fast. A quick CCTV camera inspection confirms the cause in minutes.

Broken pipe, corroded pipe, cracked pipe, rough or deteriorated pipe, tree root intrusion: we can fix the problem. We use proven trenchless, no-dig technology that rebuilds the host pipe from the inside with a cured-in-place liner.

If your pipe still holds a circular shape but has cracks, roots, or pinholes, CIPP lining usually restores it with minimal to no digging. If the pipe is fully collapsed or missing sections, pipe bursting replacement may be the better path. A camera inspection tells us which is right, and you get a free second opinion first.

Trenchless pipe repair is a strong, fast, less invasive alternative to digging. Lining can run hundreds of feet in a single day. That cuts service interruption and protects the yard, driveway, wall, or floor that a dig would tear up.

Most Utah residential CIPP jobs finish in a single day. Occasionally, an access point needs excavation or a larger job runs longer, but even then, lining is far more cost-effective than traditional dig-and-replace.

A cured-in-place liner is built to last around 50 years, similar to a brand-new pipe. The cured epoxy resists corrosion and root intrusion, two of the main reasons older sewer pipes fail in the first place.
