Robotic Pipe Repair and Reinstatement Cutting in Utah
Sewer Repair That’s Faster, Cheaper, Cleaner!
Your drain keeps backing up. A cable machine went down the line, came back clean, and two weeks later you’re standing in the same water. Some blockages just aren’t soft. Robotic pipe repair cuts that material out from inside the pipe without tearing up your yard.
- Cuts out what rooters leave behind: cement, rebar, protruding laterals, and collapsing pipe.
- Reopens laterals after lining: No drain cleaning machine can do that.
- Northern Utah and southern Idaho: Logan, Ogden, Salt Lake City, and Pocatello.

What Is Robotic Pipe Repair?
Robotic pipe repair uses a small remote-controlled robot to clear and reopen a damaged pipe from the inside, without digging up the line. An operator drives it in and works off a real-time camera feed. The cutting head only touches what has to come out. Our Pipeline Renewal Technologies robotic reinstatement cutter removes debris that microjetters and other drain cleaning equipment cannot remove, including cement, rebar, protruding laterals, and broken or collapsing pipe.

What the Robotic Cutter Removes From Your Sewer Line
A camera run usually turns up one of four culprits. Each calls for a different cutting head, and each is a job a rooter or jetter leaves half-finished.
- Root intrusions: A cable punches a channel straight through roots that have hardened and leaves the stubs behind. The robotic cutter grinds them back flush with the pipe wall to restore flow.
- Dried cement and rebar: Too tough for a blade built for grease and paper. The cutter takes the material out in pieces instead.
- A lateral poking into the main: A cable can't remove a pipe that's sitting in the wrong spot. The cutter trims the branch pipe back flush with the main.
- Cast iron scale and collapsing pipe. Scale builds back, and a partial obstruction turns into a full stop. Clearing the inner wall gets the line ready to be lined or replaced.
Older lines add one more. Cast iron corrodes from the inside, and clay joints let groundwater leak in, a problem plumbers call infiltration. If a blockage keeps coming back after drain cleaning, the material is probably harder than the tool you are using.
How Robotic Pipe Repair Works, Step by Step
Most people want to know what happens in their yard that day. Here is the sequence, from first look to final camera pass.
01
Inspect
Pipe inspection by sewer camera maps your sewer line and pins down the exact location of the trouble. It also shows the pipe geometry the robot has to work inside and whether that pipe is solid enough to cut.
02
Access
The robot goes in through a cleanout or manhole you already have, so there’s no new excavation across your lawn. On longer runs, a winch handles the insertion and keeps the cable steady.
03
Cut
The operator switches cutting heads to match the material and grinds it out on a real-time video feed. Roots, cement, rebar, and laterals poking into the main all come away in pieces.
04
Reinstate
Once the epoxy liner of a CIPP repair, short for cured-in-place pipe, cures inside the old pipe, it seals over every branch connection. The robot then goes back in and cuts open the branch connections again.
Not sure if your line needs cutting, lining, or both? The camera work comes first either way, and a second opinion won’t cost you anything.

Robotic Cutting Compared to Traditional Methods
Robotic cutting isn’t always the right answer. Traditional methods still have their place, and knowing where each one runs out is what saves you from paying for the wrong fix.

Best at
Cable machine (snake)
Soft blockages. Quick and cheap.
Hydrojetting
Grease, scale, and sludge blasted off the inner walls with high-pressure water.
Digging (excavation)
Anything, including a pipe that's fully collapsed.
Robotic cutting
Hard obstructions, cleared with minimal disruption.
The Old Way
Where it runs out
Cable machine (snake)
Won't cut rebar, and it leaves root stubs behind, which grow back
Hydrojetting
Water on its own won't shift a lateral that's grown into the line.
Digging (excavation)
The driveway, lawn, and sidewalk all pay for it, plus property damage and downtime.
Robotic cutting
Needs a pipe still solid enough to work inside.
What if the pipe underneath is too far gone? Trenchless sewer repair can reline it with a jointless new pipe instead. That combination makes pipe rehabilitation possible without a trench.

Why are your drivers (company trucks) running STOP signs in residential neighborhoods with children present? This happened at 4:55 PM Saturday March 28th 2026 in Mendon, Utah. Driver was in a white shirt and tie headed to the church of Jesus Christ latter-day Saints If I see your company trucks running the stop sign in my neighborhood again I’m turning that license plate into the police ! Scott is the man!! We had been dealing with low water pressure for a month. After talking to the city twice and a visit from a plumber. We were referred to excavation companies to dig up our front yard. After finding out the cost of excavation, I decided to call Restore Pipe Systems. Scott showed up the same day and took a look at our valves, and water tank. He got those broken items replaced in no time and contacted the city for me. He stayed and told them what he had found. It was not a pipe in my yard after all, but we had low flow from the city. I felt so relieved of stress, less money out of my pocket, the job was done and we're back to full pressure showers again! Thank you Scott! Restore Pipe Systems will be my go to from here on out.Posted on Google![]()

A diamond pendant that belonged to my mom fell off the chain and into my sink; it was a family heirloom. My granddaughter has worn it for special occasions, proms, graduation photos, etc. We were heartbroken and sick!! Restore Pipe Systems was referred to me by a friend, thank goodness! Scott came out; he located it in 10 mins at no charge! What a fantastic company, so kind and compassionate!! Thanks again, Scott!

Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What is robotic pipe repair used for?
Robotic pipe repair clears hard material out of a sewer line and reopens branch connections after a liner is installed. It handles cement, rebar, protruding laterals, and broken or collapsing pipe that standard drain cleaning equipment leaves behind. The work suits homes, commercial buildings, and multi-unit properties where digging would mean tearing up landscaping or parking lots.
Can a robotic cutter remove tree roots from a sewer line?
Yes. A robotic cutter grinds root intrusions back flush with the pipe wall, instead of punching a channel through them the way a cable machine does. More of the root mass comes out, so regrowth takes longer. Lining the pipe afterward closes the cracked joint the roots came through.
Do I need robotic cutting or a full pipe replacement?
That depends on what the camera shows. If the pipe is still sound and the problem is material sitting inside it, cutting is usually enough. If the pipe has collapsed or corroded through, the line needs relining instead, and cutting alone won’t hold.
How long does robotic pipe repair take?
That depends on the line. Length, pipe diameter, and how much material needs clearing all move the timeline. Jobs that combine cutting with lining run longer, since the liner has to cure before the reinstatement cuts are made. A camera inspection is what turns that into a real number for your line.
Will robotic pipe repair damage my existing pipe?
No. The operator watches a live feed the entire time and matches the cutting head to the material. The blade works on the obstruction, not on the sound pipe. That visual control is why robotic cutting suits older cast iron and clay lines, where a blind tool carries more risk.
Do you offer robotic sewer services outside Logan, Utah?
Yes. Service covers northern and central Utah, southern Idaho, and southwest Wyoming, including Logan, Ogden, Layton, Bountiful, Roy, Salt Lake City, Provo, Pocatello, and Twin Falls. Office hours run Monday through Friday, 8 to 5.
